SAMS - school age mums support
Supporting young mums in Leicestershire county schools during pregnancy and into parenthood, enabling them to make choices and progress with their education.
Sure Start Children's Centres
In Harborough District we have worked very hard to provide a seamless and supportive service to our young parents. We know every young parent in the District, and are engaged with most of them offering many types of help and support. There is a well attended weekly young parents group, which takes place at Market Harborough Children’s Centre, and which will help you plan the next steps for you as a parent and anticipate the next developmental steps for your baby.
Amelia Day is our friendly and approachable Family Outreach Worker who runs the young parents group, with support from Supporting Leicestershire Families; Amelia would be very pleased to talk to you if you rang or texted her on 0750 801 5404. Transport can be organised from any part of the District, and our ‘offer’ is for any parent under the age of 22 to have
- Access to our young parents group
- Support from either a youth worker or children’s centre family outreach worker
NEWS - After a summer break, our young parents group will be relaunched on Friday 25th September and the group will run on Fridays from 11.30 - 1 - Amelia would love to hear from you if you'd be interested in coming along!

An evidence based, accredited 8 week programme of antenatal education designed for vulnerable parents. The programme covers all aspects of labour, birth, feeding, caring and bonding with your newborn baby. A mixture of carefully designed sessions to include practical tasks, small group work, discussions and even crafts, all used to enhance learning and confidence. Peer support within the small groups of 8-10 is invaluable and a powerful support in the future months.
