Home Start - Mums in Mind

Home-Start is national charity with over 350 regional branches. We support families in the Blaby District Oadby & Wigston area of Leicestershire with at least 1 child under 5 who would like a little help with the challenge of raising children. As a parent you might ask for Home-Start's help for all sorts of reasons - feeling isolated, finding it hard to cope, bereavement or the struggle of the emotional and physical demands of having twins or triplets - perhaps born into an already large family.

After asking for support you will meet with one of our coordinators who will visit you at home to discuss what your needs are and will then match you with one of our volunteers. All of our volunteers are parents themselves and understand just how challenging the early years can sometimes be. They will visit you once a week for a couple of hours to give you emotional and practical support.
We also run several family groups each week during term time. Here you can relax enjoy a cup of tea and have fun with your child in a safe and welcoming environment. You can also receive some extra support from one of our Coordinators or our Home-Start volunteers during the session. There is also a play worker who provides stimulating and fun activities for the children.
Other Information
Families must be referred to Home-Start in order to access our support. If you wish to Self-refer please get in contact or else speak to your Health Visitor who can make the referral for you. All of our support is free, confidential, non-judgmental and flexible to your needs. For more information or an informal chat please get in touch.
