Sure Start Children's Centres

Sure Start Children's Centres are a great place to access support on a one-to-one basis from a Family Outreach Worker, or to attend groups.

Early Help Young Parents Support Groups

Early Help providers a number of Young Parents Support Groups based in a variety of community settings, offering support from the beginning of pregnancy to birth and parenthood. The groups are facilitated by trained workers, some with specialist skills and knowledge relating to teenage pregnancy and parenting. In addition, we offer a condom distribution and pregnancy testing service alongside all groups. The groups focus is on the needs of the young person / parent primarily, they provide informal education and personal development opportunities. Some groups develop peer education work. Baby Beginnings

A referral only programme tailored to suit early help parents. 6 weeks antenatally and 2 weeks postnatally.

An evidence based, accredited 8 week programme of antenatal education designed for vulnerable parents. The programme covers all aspects of labour, birth, feeding, caring and bonding with your newborn baby. A mixture of carefully designed sessions to include practical tasks, small group work, discussions and even crafts, all used to enhance learning and confidence. Peer support within the small groups of 8-10 is invaluable and a powerful support in the future months.

This programme is by referral only, so please speak to your midwife, health visitor or Children's Centre to find out more.

The Bridge is a registered charity which has built an enviable reputation for its high quality services for homeless and vulnerably housed people in the Borough of Charnwood, Leicestershire and Rutland. Our Mission Statement is “To develop sustainable housing solutions for individuals and communities through partnership, empowerment and good practice”. We have been operating successfully since 1993 and continually strive to develop and improve our services to the community.

Early Start

We can help you with parenting issues, building your confidence as new parents, helping you to understand your child’s development stages and how you can best meet your baby’s physical, emotional, economic and social wellbeing needs. The Early Start programme is available for vulnerable first time parents living in Loughborough. Issues our parents face may include teenage pregnancy, mental health problems, learning difficulties, substance misuse and homelessness.

ProspectsProspects helps young people to access work, education and training opportunities across Leicestershire. We have offices in Loughborough and Hinckley, as well as a range of drop in sessions throughout the county where you can see your Personal Adviser and receive support. We can help with jobsearch, CV’s, applying to college and provide information, advice and guidance from qualified staff. We can also support young parents to find help to fund childcare and activities to help them return to learning and employment.

We hold a drop in service at our offices in Fennel Street in Loughborough from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. We are available at the Jobcentre in Loughbourough Monday to Friday 9am to 12 midday. We can also meet you, by appointment, at a Library or other community venue or cafe near you: such as Syston, Thurmaston, Anstey, Birstall, Rothley, Sileby, Quorn, Kegworth to name just a few.

For those who find it easier to be seen in Leicester City, we hold drop in sessions from 1 - 4pm Monday to Friday for County residents at Connexions, alternatively you can book an appointment from 9am to 12.00.

Family Information Service

Leicestershire's Family Information Service (FIS) provides information, advice and guidance for families who have children or young people aged 0-20 years. We also provide this service to professionals who work with children, young people and families.

Domestic Abuse

Living Without Abuse (LWA) believes that all people have the right to live safely and without fear of violence and abuse. On this site we offer information and advice to anyone experiencing domestic abuse. We can also provide support services to anyone living in Charnwood and North West Leicestershire. We are committed to raising awareness of domestic abuse, working towards its prevention and eradication, and assisting those affected by this crime to determine their own lives.
